Ron Garvin

Ron Garvin (born Roger Barnes the March 30th 1945 with Montreal, Quebec) is old a Canadian all-in wrestler and more known referee for his passage to the National Wrestling Alliance.

Career

Ron Garvin began wrestling in 1962. It trained a team with her " frère" Terry Garvin in the Sixties and at the beginning of 70 and they gained some regional titles by team unit. They were directed by their other " frère" , Jimmy Garvin (actually the son-in-law of Ron).

Garvin was made a name as an all-in wrestler solo in the territories of the Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee later after being separate of Terry and Jimmy. He fought in the International Championship Wrestling of Angelo Poffo, the federation where he was known for his rivlaity with Randy Savage and Pez Whatley. One of the most known moments of Garvin to the ICW is when it made leave the denture OX Baker, after typical kicks with Garvin. It held the NWA Georgia Television Title (also known like the National or World TV Title) 5 times, including a competition with then the member of the Legion off Doom, Jake " The Snake" Roberts. At one time during the competition, Jake Roberts held the title TV and refused to give to Garvin a match revenge. Garvin was to go to seek 10.000$ to pay Roberts and to have its match of championship. Garvin gained revenge and became again NWA World TV champion.

It from went away after to the Jim Crockett Promotions of NWA or it completed its great success. It became " The Hands off Stone" Ron Garvin and competed with Tully Blanchard and Black Bart before entering a feud with the NWA World Champion Ric Flair in 1987. The September 26th 1987, Garvin could beat Flair for the title. It is during this competition that Garvin was made hoot by the public (whereas at this time it was face), which saw Flair being made encourage. Its victory for the title was a decision of last minute by the committee of scriptage following the loss of their original choice for the continuation. Magnum T.A., the original choice, was put out of the boxing rings following an car accident and Buddy Landel was transfered for use of drug the very same day that it was going to gain the title. He catchait with the American Wrestling Association later in 1988 always in heel and feudait with Greg Gagne for AWA International Television Championship. He had also competitions with Carlos Colon for WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship at the time of voyages to Puerto Rico during this time.

Garvin from went away after to WWF catchant as a babyface under the name of " Rugged" Ronnie Garvin. It competed with Greg Valentine. Valentine beat it in a match where the loser was to take his retirement, but the competition continued with Garvin as a referee. Garvin beat Valentine in a match of tender to the Royal Rumble 1990. It turned over in the independent Circuit, especially in the Carolines, as an all-in wrestler semi-pensioner even if it could be found in 2005 like an all-in wrestler or referee in independent federations of the east coasts of the the United States
