Romuald Iosifovich Klim , born the May 25th 1933, is old a Belorusse athlete , which contributed for the the USSR and was one of best the launchers of hammer in the Années 1960. At the time of international competitions, it gained two gold medals, two of money and bench world records.

Career

Romuald Klim wanted initially to become officer in the navy but he was considered to be inapt. He then began a formation at the institute of State of Bielorussia where he met the trainer of the famous launcher Mikhail Krivonosov. After being itself tested with the disc and shot put, it concentrated on the throwing the hammer. Although its performances at the time of the drives of force were not extraordinary - with the snatch and the shoulder-jeté it raised 75, respectively 130 kg, that is to say nearly 40 kg less than his colleagues -, its trainer always repeated to him that it was not the rough force but the rate/rhythm which was decisive for a launcher of hammer. It still occurred a few years until Klim controls this rate/rhythm. In 1963, at almost 30 years, it was taken in national team. Consequently, its career progressed very quickly.

To the Olympic Games of summer of 1964, Klim launched to 67.10 m during the qualifications and established a new Olympic record. Finally, it improved it to 69.74 m what signifait gold in front of its rival Hungarian Gyula Zsivótzky. In the following years, Klim and the Hungarian met nine times. Klim was each time the winner. With the championships of Europe of athletics of 1966 with Budapest, Klim with a victorious throw to 70.02 m had 1.40 m in advance on Zsivótzky. It was presented to the Olympic Games of summer of 1968 with Mexico City with the statute of favorite. With the fourth test, Klim reached 73.28 m but Zsivótzky answered with 73.36 Mr. For Klim it was only one money medal. That discouraged it by no means even if it were 35 years old. It accentuated its drive and the following year, in 1969, it launched ten times to more than 71 Mr. on June 13rd, 1969 to Budapest, it made a success of a great blow while launching the hammer with 74.52 Mr. It became thus the new holder of the world records, but only for three months. With the championships of Europe of athletics of 1969 with Athens, the series of success of Anatoliy Bondarchuk started. It launched further 16 cm that Klim, taking the title and the world records to him. Two years later, to the championships of Europe of athletics of 1971 with Helsinki, Klim, at 38 years, still launched beyond 70 m and finished fourth.
