Romeo and Juliette is one of the many adaptations of the part of William Shakespeare. This film carried out by Free Zeffirelli in 1968, gained two Oscar S (better photographs and better costumes) and was twice nominated (for the best realizer and better film).

Synopsis

With Vérone, a flower of love pushes inopportunely in a garden of hatred.

Anecdotes

  • the age of the main actors (Leonard Whiting, 17 years and Olivia Hussey, 16 years) was close to that of the roles in the part. This film besides was very discussed because the two actors appear naked in film, whereas they were not major. Beforehand, of the special permissions had to be granted to turn these scenes.
  • It is Paul McCartney which was initially planned for the role of Romeo (cf the autobiography of Free Zeffirelli).

  • Franco Zeffirelli worried about the weight which took Olivia Hussey and prohibited to serve of the pastes on turning.
