The Bombacacées are a family of plants Dicotylédone S including/understanding 180 species divided into 30 kinds:

  • Adansonia, Aguiaria, Bernoullia, Bombacopsis, Bombax, Catostemma, Cavanillesia, Ceiba, Chorisia, Coelostegia, Cullenia, Durio, Eriotheca, Gyranthera, Huberodendron, Kostermansia, Matisia, Neesia, Neobuchia, Ochroma, Pachira, Patinoa, Phragmotheca, Pseudobombax, Quararibea, Rhodognaphalon, Rhodagnaphalopsis, Scleronema, Septotheca, Spirotheca .
They are trees of the tropical areas.

One can quote the kind Bombax and Ceiba of the trees whose fruits produce the Kapok, Ochroma providing the balsa, Adansonia one of the kinds called Baobab and Durio cultivated for its edible fruits, the Durion S.

The phylogenetic classification gathers Bombacacées, the Tiliacées and the Sterculiacées within the family of the Malvacées.
