Romance Richard , agricultural engineer, is the main character of an legal affair which proceeded with Mound-of-Cairo in the Alp-of-High-Provence.

Facts

On Tuesday, July 26, 1988, the small Celine Jourdan, 7 years old, is found without life near Mound-of-Cairo, having undergone sexual violences.

Romance , Richard 29 years old at the time of the facts, called " Indien" because of its atypical lifestyle, and Nice Didier, farm laborer called " the tatoué" are quickly suspectés, and pass to the consents during the police custody; Richard Roman retracts little time afterwards in front of the examining magistrate of Worthy.

An attempt at reconstitution of the facts on June 16th, 1989 in the streets of Mound-of-Cairo causes a riot because of the extreme emotion caused by this business.

October 22nd, 1990, the examining magistrate Yves Bonnet returns a nonsuit in favor of Richard Roman , whereas the public opinion is mainly persuaded of its culpability. Three weeks of lawsuit, three weeks of tensions led thus to its payment, and the imprisonment of Didier Gentil, condemned to perpetuity.

The lawsuit

The lawsuit opens on November 30th, 1992 before the Court of Assizes of the Isere. At the time of the lawsuit, Didier Gentil assumes only the crime and requests forgiveness from Richard Roman, but the family of the victim does not recognize her only culpability. The genetic tests however confirm its only participation in the rape. The public prosecutor asks acquitement for Novel.

Didier Gentil is condemned to the life imprisonment, and Richard Roman is discharged on December 17th, 1992, after several years of detention pending trial.
