The Romance Flanders or Flanders gallicante (in Dutch Romaans Vlaanderen , in Latin Gallo Flandria or Flandria Gallica ) is the term used to indicate the grounds of Romance expression having belonged to the historical Comté of Flanders. They extend to horse on the France and the current Belgium.

Territory

  • In France:

    • the Flanders inhabitant of Lille (in Dutch Rijsels-Vlaanderen );
    • the septentrional part of the Flat of Scarpe which includes/understands the Pévèle and part of the Douaisis
  • In Belgium:

    • the historical Tournaisis (in Dutch Doornikse ), i.e. grounds being located overall between the current French border and banks of the the Scheldt.
    • areas of Mouscron and Comines, common French-speaking people with Dutch-speaking minority, of old the châtellenie of Courtrai.

Romance Flanders and Walloon Flanders

The term “Walloon Flanders” refers mainly to the Comitia Flandriae Wallonensis which is an intendance (the equivalent of current the district) of old the province of Flanders and not to the Gallo Flandria which is the part of Romance language of the Comté of Flanders.
