Roman Catholic church in Romania

The Roman Catholic church in Romania (in Rumanian: Biserica Romano-Catolică in România ) is the Catholic church of Latin rite in Romania.

It should not be confused with the Église Rumanian Greek-catholic, also catholic but of Byzantine Rite.

History

Organization

The Roman Church in Romania counts two ecclesiastical provinces:

  • Archdiocese of Bucharest (in Rumanian: Arhiepiscopia Romano-Catolică de Bucureşti)

    • Diocese of Iaşi
    • Diocese of Oradea Pond
    • Diocese of Satu Pond
    • Diocese of Timişoara
  • Archdiocese of Alba Iulia (in Hungarian: Gyulafehérvári Római Katolikus Érsekség, in Rumanian: Arhiepiscopia Romano-Catolică de Alba Iulia)

The archdiocese of Alba Iulia depends directly on the the Holy See.
