Romanée-Conti

Romanée-Conti is one of the large vintages of Vosne-Romanée. He is regarded as the high-class wine of Burgundy.
History and geography
Its vineyard of 1,8 hectare is on the commune of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte of Nights on the Route of the Great wines. It is planted only in Cépage of black Pinot. Created with the XVe century by the Monk S of Saint-Alive, the piece did not move since. Its name comes from the prince Louis François of Bourbon-Conti which bought it in 1760. It is currently the property of the families of Unpleasant and Leroy, owners also of other great wines of Burgundy.
In 1945, the whole of the vineyard was torn off following the epidemic of Phylloxéra to be replanted. There thus no was wine produces 1946 with 1951.
Only 6.000 bottles of Romanée-Conti are produced per annum. Characteristic: they are marketed only by complete case of 12 bottles containing a single bottle of Romanée-Conti for eleven other bottles of great wines of Côte of Beaune and Côte of Nights.
In the exceptional years, the field also produces Vosne Romanée First vintage fermented Duvault-Small block which comes from the young vines of the great wines.
The Field of Romanée Conti (DRC) is the only one today exploiting vintage of Romanée Conti. The field is directed by Aubert de Villaine.
The case is currently sold with the neighborhoods of 3.000 € in Primeur, which expensive makes of Romanée-Conti the wine of the world. In a department store of Kobe in Japan, a bottle of Romanee Conti, year 2000, is sold 787.500 Yens, that is to say 5000 Euros. In March 2005, six magna of Romanée Conti 1985 had been allocated 134.315 € at the time of a sale to New York, by making the wine expensive of the world. This record was beaten in 2006 by a Sheep-Rothschild 1945.
