Romagny-under-Rougemont

Romagny-under-Rougemont is a commune of the Territoire of Belfort belonging to the canton of Rougemont-the-Castle. The village is located in the Country-under-Vosgean and is stretched along the road which connects Saint-Germain-the-Châtelet to Rougemont. It shelters currently a little less than 200 habitants.
Before 1648, date on which the seigniory of Rougemont left the possessions of the Empire to join the duchy of Mazarin, the village was indicated by a germanized name of Esche , Eschon or Welschenesch . After having belonged to the parish of Angeot until the 16th century, the village is attached to the parish of Rougemont created at that time.
