Old commune of the Meuse, the commune of Romagne-Gesnes existed of 1973 to 1987. It was created in 1973 by the fusion of the communes of Romagne-under-Montfaucon and Gesnes-in-Argonne. In 1987 it was removed and the two constituent communes were restored.
