Rolleboise

Rolleboise is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at 10 km in the west of Mantes-the-Pretty.

Geography

Rolleboise is a bordering commune of the the Seine, located on left bank of the river in the convexity of a Méandre.

It is bordering on the Bonnières-on-Seine in the west, Freneuse and Méricourt in north and on the Rosny-on-Seine in the south. In the east, it is separated by the Seine from Guernes.

History

  • Site inhabited as of the Paleolithic .
  • 1846 : construction of the railway tunnel.
  • August 20th 1944: crossing of the Seine by the first American elements.
