Rolladen-Schneider LS7
The Rolladen-Schneider LS7 is a single-seat Planeur of standard class FAI, it was produced by Rolladen-Schneider Flugzeugbau GMBH between 1988 and 1993.
History
The LS7 was developed like the successor of LS4In the starting philosophy of the design of the LS4, Rolladen-Schneider conceived the LS7 like a machine without compromise for the competition, with the research of the best output with the last technology of the time. The Originator Wolf Lemke used a radically new profile of laminar type and a wing has strong lengthening. The carbon fiber and the Kevlar were intensively employed in the construction industry, to ensure the held structural one. The operating rods of the ailerons were entirely integrated in the wings, only 30 mm exceeds under-surface.
The prototype of the LS7 accomplished its first flight in autumn in 1987, and the production started in 1988. An evolution the LS7-WL with Winglet S arrived in 1991, of many LS7 were converted with this standard. The production was stopped in 1993 with only 164 built specimens.
The LS7 does not have a business success and nor sportsman for the advanced means. Its speeds raised in thermal flight proved to be a handicap in competition.
The LS7 was replaced by the LS8, with which is always manufactured by DG Flugzeugbau. The LS7 remains a sailplane estimated among the private owners for his excellent execution and these characteristics of vol.
