Roland Pleasure

Roland Pleasure , born the July 31st 1925, is a communist politician , Maire of Évreux of 1977 with 2001, General adviser of 1971 to 2001.

He was also appointed communist of the January 2nd 1956 with the December 8th 1958.

Mayor of Évreux

In 1977, the success of the list of Roland Plaisance to the municipal elections is also the mark of a certain particularism. One remembers these elections as of that cantonal which preceded in 1976 as marked by the victories by the left whereas the line held the majorities presidential and legislative since the advent of the Fifth Republic. However the hopes of the left were temporarily disappointed, the “vague pink” of cantonal of 1976 and of the local elections of 1977 was not confirmed with legislative of 1978. Many cities in 1977 passed from the right-hand side to the left, in general represented by the Socialist party. The case of Évreux was rather particular: Roland Pleasure, member of the Communist party, sat since 1953 at the municipal council, including on the list taken along by the Azémia Socialist in 1971.

Roland Plaisance drew up his own list for 1977, thus facing all at the same time the line and the Socialists, his former partners of which he thus intended to dissociate himself and which he preceded with the first turn. The Socialists preferring to avoid division vis-a-vis the right-hand side did not remain in string and invited to vote for the Plaisance list. The line centered its countryside on the risk to let the Communists seize the town hall but one can think that the personality of Roland Plaisance and the satisfaction which the preceding municipalities had given facilitated its election. Évreux passed thus from the socialist party to the Communist party, which is already a case of figure, but moreover without to have ever been a bastion of this one; no national election was particularly favorable to the Communist party in the polling stations of Évreux. Roland Plaisance was thus during four successive mandates as much the mayor of Ebroïciens that a communist mayor. The lists which it carried out after 1977 reinstated of the Socialists and of various the left, one did not attend any more these tournaments between Communists and noncommunist within the left at the time of the municipal elections.

In 2001, the defeat of the Plaisance list which aspired to its fifth mandate was rather marked as for the percentages of the voices, vis-a-vis RPR Jean-Louis Debré. It was not represented with the cantonal ones.
