Roland Alexander

Roland Alexander is a saxophonist, pianist and American harmonicist , born with Boston (Massachusetts) the September 25th 1935.

Biography

After solids musical studies, and the determining meetings of John Coltrane, Philly Joe Jones, Badly Waldron, Roy Haynes, max Roach, Blue Mitchell and Sony Rollins, it take part in some recordings, inter alia with Charlie Persip, Dollar Brand (Abdullah Ibrahim), Paul Chambers, Howard McGhee, Teddy Charles, Sam Rivers, it accompanies the vocalists Frank Minion and Betty Blake, it records two discs under its own name, the first “ Pleasure bent ” (1961) with Marcus Belgrave, the second, more characterized “ Live At the Axis ” (1978) with Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre and Malachi Thompson.
