Roisel is a common French, located in the department of the Somme and the area Picardy.

Geography

History

With saying some impassioned of history, the name of Roisel, would have an etymology close to the word " roseau". It is true that the commune of Roisel is crossed by Cologne, river taking its source, not far from there, with Hargicourt (Aisne) and jettant itself in the Somme with Péronne. The history of Roisel is strongly attached to Saint-Fursy.

  • Church Saint Martin's day

After the destruction of the church at the time of the First World War, the commune adheres to the Co-operative of Rebuilding Churches Devastated of the Diocese of Péronne in order to ensure the rebuilding of it.

The architect Louis Is necessary, originating in Nurlu, announced drawing of the project during the year 1926. The final validation of the project and the adjudication of work are established during the first six-month period 1928, then making it possible to launch the building site, in the months which follow.

The tympanum representing Saint Martin's day, is the work of Maurice Guiraud-River. It is carried out in stone of Saint-Maximin

  • Town hall

After its destruction at the time of the First World War, the Town hall in the past located in front of the church was rebuilt a little upstream in north, generating a vast public space then. It is the work of Maurice Lucet, and was built in 1926.
