Roger van Gindertael
Roger Van Gindertael , (born in 1899 in Belgium, died in 1982 or 1986), initially painter, is then in Paris an important critic art of the the Fifties and the Sixties, supporting in its articles and forewords the nonfigurative painters, of which it organizes many exposures.
Biography
With Brussels, Roger Van Gindertael studies the letters and the fine arts, raise of the painter H. Richir to the academy. Sharing as of 1924 its life between Belgium and France, it paints in particular in Provence ( the green gloriette , Ciotat, 1926), famous of lithographies the King of the Night of Pierre Broodcoorens (Editions Light, Antwerp) and takes part in 1928 in the Living room Young Belgian painting (gallery the Centaur in Brussels). Influenced by the Flemish expressionnists and Cézanne, its paintings are strongly constructed in a generous matter. Roger Van Gindertael exposes to Marseilles in 1942 and fixes himself definitively at Paris in 1943. One owes him of the drawings of characters (Jean Ballard, director of the Cahiers of the South. Its work was indexed at the time of the centenary of its birth.Cofounder and editor association of the review “Ogee moulding”, Roger Van Gindertael published many articles (often under its only three initial, RVG) in “Combat”, “the Eye”, “the Art schools of Brussels”, “XXè century”, “the French Letters”… It also organized many exposures, or took part in their organization, in Paris (Gallery Craven, 1955; Gallery Arnaud, 1956; Gallery Raymonde Cazenave; Living room of Montrouge) and abroad (“School of Paris”, Kunsthalle of Mannheim, 1958).
