Roger Lemelin

Roger Lemelin (Quebec, April 7th, 1919 - March 16th, 1992) is a writer and Journaliste Québécois. He is the author of Plouffe , whose televised adaptation in the Années 1950 was the first great success of the history of the Québécois télévison. He was also leading editor and ist of the daily newspaper the Press of 1972 to 1981.

Biography

In 1944, it publishes its first novel, With the foot of the soft slope , inspired of the daily life and the picturesque characters of its native district in Quebec, Saint-Saver. From 1944 to 1952, he is corresponding Canadian for the American magazines Time and Life. A purse of the Foundation Guggenheim enables him to write its second book, Plouffe , which will appear in 1948.

At the beginning of the Years 1980, it contacts the Cinéma. It prepares then, with Gilles Carle, the scenario of the film Plouffe and, with Denys Arcand and Gilles Carle, the scenario of film drawn from its novel the Crime of Ovide Plouffe .

It is also Journaliste and Business man, having directed from 1972 to 1981 the newspaper the Press.

One of the 27 libraries of the town of Quebec is named in its honor.
