Roger Maxwell Chapman is a British Chanteur of Rock born the April 8th 1942 with Leicester (England), more known under the name of Roger Chapman
Biography
Roger " Chappo" Chapman remains most known of the members of the progressive group Family in the Sixties until beginning of the year 70. It will form then part of the principal members, between 1974 and 1977, of the rock group Streetwalkers specialized in the Rythm' Blues.
Before integrating Family with the precursors of the group The Farinas , it made already proof during its appearances in public of impressive vocal characteristics (vibrato) having already enabled him to become a figure of the English scene rock'n'roll. Chapman explains whereas it tried to sing like Little Richard or like its idol Ray Charles.
Family remains particularly remarkable thanks to several of its members of which Rick Grech ( Music in has Dolls House and Family Entertainment ) which will take part in Blind Faith, or John Wetton ( Fearless and Bandstand ) which will play with King Crimson, Roxy Music, the U.K. then Asia.
At the end of the Seventies, after the experiment Streetwalkers, Roger Chapman starts a career solo and records its first personal album Chappo .
In 1983, Mike Oldfield records the album Crises including/understanding the song Shadow One The Wall interpreted by Roger Chapman. This song becomes an enormous success for Mike Oldfield, parallel to other success Moonlight Shadow on the same album.
New musical styles, like the Punk Rock'n'roll, become popular with the the United Kingdom. Chapman obtains a success growing in various European countries, in particular in Germany where it spends most clearly its time to beginning of the year 80, gaining even the title of Artist of the year in this country.
