Biography

Youth

Rodrigo Santoro is born with Petrópolis the August 22nd 1975, of an Italian father, engineer and of a Brazilian mother, painter-sculpteuse. He discovered his passion for the theater and the cinema during his youth. Being child, he had fun to create puppet shows for his family. Later, it adapted telefilms for the theater of its school. In 1993, it entered in Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro where it made studies of Marketing.

Career

Hardly entered at the university, it on television took down its first role in a Telenovela, Olho No Olho . It took part in other telenovelas which had success more or less. In 1999, it made the Brazilian voice of Stuart in Stuart Little.
In 2001, it obtained its first great role with the cinema with Bicho de Sete Cabeças of Laís Bodasnky where it incarnates the Neto young person, a teenager sent wrongfully in a psychiatric asylum by his father. This role enabled him to obtain many rewards in Brazil and the festival of Carthagène. Thanks to this film, it took down the role of Tonho in the very touching Abril despedaçado of Walter Salles in 2001. It connected then with Carandiru of Héctor Babenco where it plays the part of a transsexual named Lady Di.
In 2003, he was contacted by Columbia Pictures to play in Charlie' S Angels 2: The angels break out! . This film opened the doors of Hollywood to him. The same year he played the part of beautiful and mysterious Karl in Love Actually . Despite everything he does not forget his native land and goes back there to turn Hoje E Dia of Maria and Hoje E Dia of Maria 2 of the mini-series. In 2006 it returns to Hollywood for the film 300 in which it incarnates tyrannical the Xerxes I. One can also notice the presence of Rodrigo Santoro in the successful series Lost, the missings, in season 3 (2006-2007), as Paulo.

Other Information

In spite of its work in Hollywood, Rodrigo Santoro does not wish to live in Los Angeles. It currently resides at Rio de Janeiro where it practices the Méditation transcendantale and likes to listen to The Doors its group préférré.
