Rodolphe II of Burgundy

Rodolphe II of Burgundy, born in 880 and dead the July 11th 937, is king of High-Burgundy (912 - 937), Low-Burgundy (Provence, 933 - 937) and of Italy (in practice of 922 with 926, claim given up in 933). He is the son of Rodolphe I {{er}} of Burgundy, resulting from the family of the Welfs.

Married with Berthe de Souabe known as Filandière , they have the following children:

After its accession with the throne in 912, several noble Italian require in 922 of Rodolphe II to intervene in Italy in the conflict which oppose them to the emperor Bérenger I {{er}} of the Friuli. After being entered to Italy, it is crowned king d' Italie with Pavia. In 923, it overcomes Bérenger with Piacenza. Berenger is assassinated the following year, murder perhaps financed by Rodolphe. Rodolphe II then directs the High-Burgundy and the Italy, residing alternatively in each kingdom.

However, in 926, the Italian nobility is turned over against him and asks Hugues of Arles, which directed the Provence instead of the true king Louis III the Blind man, to take its place on the throne of Italy. Rodolphe returns to High-Burgundy to protect itself, which makes it possible Hugues to be crowned king d' Italie. The Italians change once again opinion and ask Rodolphe to recover the throne. In order to put an end to the argument, Hugues and Rodolphe sign a treaty in 933, guaranteeing to Rodolphe the Low-Burgundy in exchange of his renunciation of the throne of Italy. The two Burgundian kingdoms are thus reunified. Its death in 937, his/her son Conrad III known as '' the Pacific '', succeeds to him.
