Roderick Evans was born with Slough in the suburbs from London the January 19th 1947, but its family settled very quickly in Burnham. He was member of the group The Maze and MI5 in company of Ian Paice. He joined Roundabout in March 1968 which became then Deep Purple . He attended the beginnings of the group with which he recorded three albums: Shades Off Deep Purple , The Book Off Talesyn and Deep Purple . Its voice is particularly remarkable on the titles Lalena , Hush , Mandrake Root or Bird As Flown . Even if there remains excellent singer particularly typified " years 60" , it was replaced in 1969 by Ian Gillan.
