Rocky Balboa (character)

Robert " Rocky" Balboa, Sr. is a boxer of fiction created and interpreted by Sylvester Stallone which appears in films of the saga Rocky (1976 - 2006). Extremely tough and hard with the evil, it is famous to fight with its heart, dixit its Mickey trainer. Called " The standard italien" , he points out the Weight-heavy champion Rocky Marciano by his style, his endurance, his determination and his attaching personality, even if he is directly inspired by the boxer Chuck Wepner.

Biography

His/her best friend is Paulie Pennino of which he would like to marry the sister, Adrian Pennino.

Youth and humble beginnings

Robert Balboa is born on July 7th, 1945 and is the only son of a catholic family. During its childhood, he is regularly insulted by his father for his low capacity of comprehension. His/her father says to him one day: If you cannot use your brain, uses your body in the place. . That pushes it to launch out in boxing, with an aim of resembling its idol Rocky Marciano (from where its nickname).

It leaves the school at the end of its third.

As from 1975, Balboa lives in the poor districts of Kensington in the south of Philadelphia working like henchman of a pawnbroker local. At the same period, it goes up on the boxing ring for combat of a circuit of local clubs. It acquires the nickname of " then; The standard italien" and enters 64 engagements, for 44 victories (including 38 KB) and 20 defeats. Blossoming

In 1986, a doctor discovers that Rocky suffers from a lesion to the brain, had with the repetition of the blows to the head. Rocky is forced to withdraw itself. His/her Paulie brother-in-law wastes the fortune of Balboa, which ruin them. He thus is obliged of turned over in the slum of Philadelphia where he grows. Although with the retirement as a boxer, the ex-champion of the world starts to train a promising boxer, Tommy Gunn, which is also its Sparring-partner. Gunn progresses little by little until becoming an excellent boxer. But in Christmas 1988, it leaves Balboa, reproaching him for preventing it from reaching the tops. It is what it does by gaining the championship of the world heavy trucks in January 1989. However, it does not have the favors of the press which affirms only as long as it will not beat Rocky, it will never be regarded as a true champion or a worthy heir. That pushes Gunn to cause Rocky in a duel. The former boxer starts by declining the offer, but the tension reaches its paroxysm in a street battle improvised, gained by Rocky.

Style of boxing

Although droitier, Rocky fights like a distorts leg, i.e. the made-to-order of a left-handed person. He has a hybrid register of boxing, in the physical style of a bruiser and a go-ahead type. Inspiration of the character

Rocky Balboa is directly inspired by Chuck Wepner. March 15th, 1975, Sylvester Stallone, then completely unknown, goes to the combat between Mohammed Ali and this boxer of second zone. Ali before has just regained the championship of the world of the heavy trucks against Foreman at the time of the match the century with Kinshasa. He gives his crown concerned.

Early in my career of actor, I realized that the best means of imposing to me was to create my own role in my own scenario. For my 29th birthday, I had 106 dollars in bank. My best gift of birthday was a sudden revelation than I was to write the kind of scenario than I personally wanted to see. I enjoyed the reading of stories of heroism, passion, dignity and courage, the dramas telling characters who rise with the top of their row, seizing the life with the throat and not releasing not taken as long as they did not succeed. But I had so much ideas in my head, I were not able to concentrate me. To give me courage, I took what it me remained of money and went to attend the combat Ali-Wepner which passed on a televised closed circuit. Chuck Wepner, an honest and courageous boxer who had up to that point never really made speak about him, had the chance of its life. This combat was not taken so much with the serious one. But the more the combat advanced, the more the miracle became possible. It clung. The public became absolutely insane. Wepner was put KB at fifteenth and last round, having almost held the distance. We had been pilot triumph of the will and we adored that. - Sylvester Stallone

This event is a catch for Stallone. The history of this unknown challenger to the modest results which disputes the combat of its life interests it. The actor crossed the same experiments as his hero: hard beginning in anonymity, fast dedication, megalomania then ringardisation.
