The rockwool is a heat insulator used in the construction industry, as well as the Amiante or the Glass wool. It is also an acoustic absorbent used in a system mass-arise-mass for the Soundproofing. It is, in certain applications, a little more effective than glass wool. It is a fibrous material which does not propagate fire. The rockwool is not regarded as being carcinogenic by the French authorities.

Allowing ventilation and letting pass moisture, the rockwool is also used like Substrat in the hydroponic cultures (cultures out-ground).
