Rock\' N Solex

The festival of the Rock' N Solex is oldest Festival student of France. Since 1967, this festival is held in INSA of Rennes on the campus of Beaulieu and gathers races of Solex and concerts since the beginning of the Eighties.

Races of solex

Approximately 150 Solex take seat on the starting line of this festival each year. This competition counts three tests (enumerated in the chronological order of unfolding).

Technique

Race having reappeared with the edition 2005. This test devotes the pilots who can marry speed and agility as well as possible. With the program of the year 2005: 100m standing start, relay, slalom, race of rise and speed control.

For the year 2006, the team of organization of the Races mixes the relay and the slalom to make only one great test organized in championship. Test of pédalage driving decree for the origins, test of rise for the prototypes. Moreover, this year one will be able to note the appearance of the control of the noise (for the fun of course) and the reservation of a 2 hour old time slot for free demonstrations (mechanical explanations or expo… to see on the spot).

The goal of this day is to install environment in the stands to tackle the continuation of the program…

Endurance

Test queen of the competition: after a departure way 24 hours of Mans, the 150 crews (2 or 3 pilots by Solex) for a 6 hours race which puts to the test the Solex distributed of category “Origine” and of category “Prototype”.

The race of endurance has its fans, who follow the course of the race from beginning to end, and supports the teams, but also its detractors, who are aggravated continuous noise of the solexs in the INSA during all the afternoon, and prefers the speed race.

Speed

Organized for the 2 categories (origins & protos) on a circuit different from the test of endurance, this race includes eliminatory phases throughout the day. The come evening, the winners are designated for the various tests of the week end and the given trophies. All the runners are found then around the traditional pot offered by a famous anisated drink distributer.

Concerts

Under the capital

3 to 4 concerts are proposed with the public of Rennes at the time of Rock' N Solex. Under a capital which can accommodate to 4000 people in 2005. One of the evenings is traditionally reserved for the fest-noz. In spite of its name, the festival is opened with many musical styles. One can quote some great names of the French scene and international which took part in the event these last years: Blur, Zebda, people of the grass, Farmhouse Hysteria, Frank Black, Alpha Blondy, Sergeant Garcia, Pig-headeds.

The springboard of Rock'n'roll' N Solex

Each year, a dozen groups of all the styles are selected (on more than 200 in 2005). Each one can discover there free new talents of the French scene to the Foyer of the INSA.

In 2006, the Festival innovates with programming in the bars of the town of Rennes! These concerts begin two weeks before the festival…

Animations

Operation Road' N Safety

Each year, the operation proposes many animations of sensitizing to the road hazards: Car-barrel, Crash landing test S, Simulator of blood alcohol content, Car-cushion… With many partners, the town of Rennes, prefecture, firemen of Ille-et-Vilaine, Renault, the Traffic control, etc

Z' anims

And finally, impossible to circumvent “Z' anims”, which also makes all the originality of the festival, proposes varied demonstrations. For example in 2005, they proposed initiations of circus, hip hop, graff, theater of street, longboard, step-handled, brass band and an increase in time through an exposure of 70 solex.

Parades in the town of Rennes

Inaugurated in 2005, this demonstration made it possible the Solex to cross the town of Rennes in a high procession colors.

Rock' N Solex 2005,38e edition

This year Rock'n'roll' N Solex passes in the higher category: by doubling its capacity of reception (more than 4000 people per evening) and by tripling its artistic budget, it is nearly 30.000 festival which benefitted from the edition 2005.

Rock' N Solex 2004,37e edition

In 2004, the capital of RnS accommodated inter alia: Tété, ACE Dragon, Orange Blossom, Pest or Improvisators Dub.
