Roberto Marcelo Levingston

Roberto Marcelo Levingston Laborda (born with San Luis, the January 19th 1920) is an Argentinian soldier , which was indicated the June 18th 1970, by the junta of the commander-in-chiefs of the three weapons (Ground, Mer and Air), to replace the president de facto Juan Carlos Onganía, which controlled the country since 1966, following the coup d'etat autoproclamé Argentinian Révolution. This unknown soldier, of the service of the " Renseignements" , hitherto deployed functions ignored as an emissary of the Argentinian government in the United States. It occupied its position of president de facto during less than one year (until the March 22nd 1971), and was deposited in its turn by Alejandro Agustín Lanusse, commander-in-chief of, and at this time the strong man Army of the country.

It was controlling hard and cruel, which continued the policies antipopulaires and repressive of its Onganía predecessor. An explanation to this behavior is that it was about a trained soldier and having functions with the Military academy of Americas, institution of the United States from which one of the functions was to familiarize the Latin-American officers with the techniques of blows of state, sequestrations, disappearances, tortures and assassinations and that it had left with a professional deformation some there.
