Then, after having gained the Contest Pavarotti in 1988, it begins as lyric tenor in the role from Alfredo Germont from Traviata from Verdi. Very quickly, its career knows a rapid rise, which leads it on the principal world lyric scenes (Scala of Milan, Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Opera House of London, Opéra Bastille of Paris, etc).

Its lining, Antonello Palombi, still out of shirt and blue jean, takes again the role of Radames immediately. Stephan Lissner, which directs Scala, announces to him the following day that he is not any more welcome. Alagna is defended by evoking to it Malayan physics which would have seized him and tackles the direction of Scala: “When I left scene, nobody worried about know if I went well or not, whereas I have problems of glycemia (...) There is non-assistance with anybody in danger.”
