Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor , of his true name Spangler Arlington Brugh, is an American actor born the August 5th 1911 in Filley (Nebraska) and deceased the June 8th 1969 with Santa Monica, California. It is especially known for its roles in Quo Vadis and in Traquenard of Nicholas Ray.

Its career

It made its beginnings with the cinema in 1934. Its natural elegance, its hair sinks and its blue eyes made him a boureau immediately hearts. It was called the man with the perfect profile . One of its first important films was the Novel of Marguerite Gautier (1936), where it gave the counterpart to Greta Garbo. Towards the end of its life, it turned much on television, in particular in the detective series of 1959, The Detectives Starring Robert Taylor .

He admitted itself that he was far from being the best actor of his generation, but he always showed himself always extremely professional, per hour and ready to invest itself so that the film is the best possible one. Many of his/her colleagues declared after his death that it had been underestimated as an actor, especially in films of its end of a career. Although it was especially known for its large traditional films, there remained always eager of interprêter riskier and more difficult roles. He wanted to be known for other thing that his " beautiful gueule".

McCarthysme

In 1947, Robert Taylor freely testified in front of the Commission to the anti-American activities installation by the senator Joseph McCarthy. He declared that he had played in Song off Russia in spite of his convictions. He went until affirming that the script of Richard Collins and Paul Jarrico, as well as a song of film written by Yip Harburg, were pro-Communists.

He also provides evidence against the actor Howard Da Silva. He would have declared: I can name of them some which seem to like to complicate the things. I cannot say if they are communist or not. Personal life

It had as a first marries the actress Barbara Stanwyck, with whom it divided a ranch and a large house with Brentwood (Los Angeles). This ranch is still known on the spot like the old ranch of Robert Taylor . Taylor and Stanwyck formed one of the couples more for Hollywood, and they had as friends another couple of stars, that of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. This marriage lasted, with tops and bottoms, of 1939 with 1951. Robert Taylor had also adventures with Ava Gardner and Lana Turner.

He thought several times remarier with Barbara Stanwyck after their divorce, and had also a serious relation with Eleanor Parker, but ends up marrying in second weddings the actress of German origin Ursula Thiess. They married in 1954 and had two children. It formed a couple well matched with Ursula Thiess, a refugee of the second world war which still did itself its dresses, to even go to official receptions.

He died of a Lung cancer, at the 57 years age (he was a very large smoker). He was buried with Glendale, in California. All-Hollywood witnessed its funeral, where his/her best friend Ronald Reagan made his funeral praise.
