Robert Service

Robert John Service , born on October 29th, 1947, is a Historien British specialist in the Histoire of Russia. He is professor with the British Academy and the Université of Oxford. From 2004 to 2006, it was Distinguished Visiting Scholar with the Hoover Institution.

Robert Service passes his cycle Undergraduate to the Université of Cambridge, where he studies the Russian and the old Greek . He attends then the universities of Essex and Leningrad for his Postgraduate , during which he devotes himself to the Political science then with the history. He teaches with the Université of Keele and the School off Slavonic and East European Studies of the University College of London before joining the university of Oxford in 1998, where he currently teaches.

Between 1986 and 1995, Service published a Biographie in three volumes of Lénine. It also wrote several general stories of the Russia at the 20th century. After its biography of Stalin, it hopes soon to publish that of Trotsky.
