Robert Parish
Robert Lee Parish , born the August 30th 1953 with Shreveport (Louisiana, the United States), is a former player of Basket-ball, playing in position of pivot, four times champion NBA.
It was called " Chief" , in reference to the Indian of the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest . According to the legend, it would have allotted to him by the former winger of Celtics Cedric Maxwell because of his nature impavide and stoical.
After discrete beginnings with the Centenary College off Louisiana, Parish was drafté with the first turn in 1976 by the Golden State Warriors, before being transferred to the Boston Celtics, where played its best years of tennis shoe. It disputed there 14 seasons of 1980 with 1994 and gained three finales there (1981, 1984 and 1986). The competition of Celtics of then and the Los Angeles Lakers of Magic Johnson remained legendary. The trio which it formed with Larry Bird and of 1983 with 1992 with Kevin McHale is often described like best the frontcourt of the history of the league.
He played two springtides with the Charlotte Hornets, then played his last season with the Chicago bulldozers in 1997, which enabled him to obtain its fourth title. he took his sporting retirement at 43 years the advanced age. There remains the oldest player with avor took part in a match of NBA and in 2005, its 1611 disputed meetings remain unequalled.
Parish was a very general-purpose player longiligne, of a size (2,16 m) very impressive in defense, all being very skilful halfway and able to conclude from the counter-attacks at a not very common speed for a player of his stature. Its characteristic epic was a curious Tir in suspension out of bell which went up very high before touching the circle.
In its honor, Celtics withdrew its struck shirt of double zero in 1998. He was established with the Basketball Hall off Famed in 2003.
