Robert Morel is a French editor born in 1922 and died in 1990.

Biography

Robert Morel editor was born the March 22nd 1922 with Pont-à-Mousson. Of 1939 with 1945, then young teacher, it enters Resistance to Lyon. In 1942, it publishes at the Julliard editor, " Annonciateur" and in 1944, in the same editor " Mère". These the first two novels testify to its total engagement for the Christian faith.

In 1949, it undertakes on behalf of the editions Arthaud, an ambitious project, that of the " Saints of all jours". It will publish only one volume on the twelve envisaged at the beginning. The same year it meets Odette Ducarre. Both will create the Christian Club of the book, a publisher in which it will include its leading project of the Saints of the every day. Between 1955 and 1962, it publishes twelve months of the Saints of the every day. In same time it launches an editor original and singular. All the models of books are signed Odette Ducarre. The Publisher is a resounding success.

In 1961, Robert Morel creates the publisher which bears its name. In 1962, it leaves Paris with Odette Ducarre and their three children to settle close to Forcalquier in the South of France, in Jas-of-Revest-Saint-Martin.

Two collections found the fame of the editions Robert Morel: " Célébrations" , square books which present to each volume a new thing to be celebrated, " O" , little books whose round pages are retained by a ring. In spite of terrible financial problems, Robert Morel will continue to publish the books which he liked to make. Among the authors published, one retains Claude Aveline, Joseph Delteil, Jean Follain, Jean Grenier, Pierre Gripari, Maurice Lelong, Pierre Lieuthagi, Loys Masson, Georges Mathieu, Marie-Noëlle Pelloquin, Louis Pons, André de Richaud and well of others…

Robert Morel died the January 15th 1990 in Imberts close to Gordes (Vaucluse).
