Robert Menendez (born on January 1st 1954) is a Politician American New Jersey, member of the Democratic party and elected Chambre of the representatives to the Congrès of the United States since 1993.

It was selected the December 9th 2005 by the elected governor of the New Jersey, Jon Corzine, to finish its mandate of Senator of the New Jersey to the Congrès of the United States. It took again the seat the January 18th 2006 and was confirmed by the voters the November 7th 2006.

Wire of cuban immigrants, Menendez was born with New York and grew in the New Jersey.

Graduate in right, he becomes lawyer and a rising star of the democratic party in the New Jersey.

Of 1986 with 1992, he is mayor of Union City.

Of 1987 with 1991, he is also member of the legislature of the New Jersey then of 1991 with 1993, member of the local Senate.

In November 1992, it succeeds Frank Guarini like representative of the New Jersey to the Room of the representatives.

He will be re-elected with six recoveries.

Since 2003, it is the third personality of the democratic party to the room of the representatives, behind the leader Nancy Pelosi and the vice president of group Steny Hoyer.

In 2004, it is one of the contributors to the national convention of the party with Boston.

Co-opted by Jon Corzine in December 2005 to finish its mandate of Senator of the New Jersey, Menendez became the January 18th 2006 the first Hispanic one to represent the state with the Senate and the sixth Hispanic senator of the history of the American Senate.

It is during the year 2006 one of three the only Hispanic ones of the Senate at the side of Mel Martinez and Ken Salazar.

Accused of corruption for businesses going up at the time where it was with the room of the representatives, his seat seems one the most threatened of for the democrats lasting the electoral campaign for the elections of semi-mandate. He nevertheless is elected with 53% of the voices vis-a-vis the republican Thomas Kean Jr. (45%).
