Robert Mac Lachlan

Robert Mac Lachlan (or Me Lachlan or McLachlan ) is a British Entomologiste , born the April 10th 1837 with Ongar, Essex and dead the May 23rd 1904 with Lewisham, close to London.

He is the son of Hugh Mac Lachlan. He makes his studies mainly with Ilford and makes a sufficient heritage to enable him its to devote to the study of the Natural history and to travel. He devotes himself initially to the Botanique before specializing in the study of the Neuroptère S. He is the first editor of the review Entomologists' Monthly Magazine . Mac Lachlan becomes member of the entomological Société of London in 1858, its secretary of 1868 with 1872, its treasurer of 1873 with 1875 and of 1891 with 1904 and its president of 1885 with 1886. He is also member of the Société linnéenne of London in 1862, of the Royal Society in 1877, of the zoological Société of London in 1881 and of the royal Société of horticulture in 1888. He is also member of the council of the Ray Society and various member British and foreign learned societies.

Among its 150 publications, it is necessary to quote:

  • Monograph off the British species off caddis-flies (1865).
  • Monograph off the British Neuroptera-Planipennia (1868).
  • Monograph British Psocidæ (1866 - 1867).
  • Catalog off British Neuroptera (1870).
  • Monographic revision and synopsis off the Trichoptera off the European fauna (two volumes, 1874 and 1880).
