Robert III of Marck de Bouillon

Robert III of Marck , lord of Fleuranges (1491 - 1537), never separated its cause from that of king de France.

Very different in that from his/her father, Robert II of Marck, lord of Sedan, Duke of Bubble, which always, on the contrary, had shown the great mind of independence with regard to the king of France, which it was Louis XII or François I {{er}}, like also with regard to the emperor Charles Quint. And even more different from his/her large uncle, Guillaume of Marck, the Wild boar of the Ardennes , which operated, for the account of Louis XI, the cruel repression of the Révolte of the Inhabitants of Li2ege.

To the ten years age, it is sent to the court of Louis XII. It is there the friend and the playmate then of weapons of the duke of Angouleme, the future François Ier, king de France.

He marries in 1510 Guillemette countess of Braine, rams of Montagu, Neufchâtel, Poutarcy and the Ferté-Left-handed person († 1571), girl of Robert II count de Roucy, niece of the Cardinal of Amboise. They will have one child, Robert IV of Marck, duke of Bubble and prince de Sedan, future Marshal of France, born in 1512.

After three months of marriage, it joined the French Army in the Milanais. With a handle of men it takes Vérone. Robert III of Marck is then sent in Flandres in 1512 to take a body of 10.000 men and to return to Italy, at their head under the command of his father. He takes part in the catch of Alessandria then of Novare. The French are however demolished and Robert III of Marck escapes from accuracy with more than forty wounds. He was saved by his father and envoy with Verceil, and from there in Lyon.

In 1515, it turns over to Italy with François Ier and is distinguished with Marignan where it contributes to the victory of the French, the king the adoube of his own hand. It takes Crémone, before being called near his sick father. In 1519, it is sent in Germany in order to encourage the Électeurs to give their voices to François Ist It fails in this difficult diplomatic mission.

With the resumption of the war in Italy, Robert III of Marck accompanies the king. He is made prisoner with the Bataille of Pavia in 1525 and shares the captivity of François the Ist emperor Charles Quint, irritated by the defection of his father, Robert II of Marck, imprisons it in Flandres where there remain a few years. During this imprisonment it is made Marshal of France and makes profitable its captivity to write its " memories " , published only in 1735…

It takes part in 1536 in the defense of Péronne, succeeds dead of his father the destinies of the duchy and dies in December 1537. It was buried with the church the St. Lawrence de Sedan.

Robert III took part in all the campaigns and illustrated himself under the name of " Fleuranges Adventureux : " Its death was great damage, to have esté in its riding nice time and great man of war "
