Robert Gravel

Actor, author, director and professor, Robert Gravel (1946 - August 12th 1996 with Saint-Gabriel-of-Torch, Quebec) marked the history of the Québécois theater as man of precursory and creative theater.

With Jean-Pierre Ronfard and pol. Furrier, it founds, in the middle of the Seventies, the experimental Theater of Montreal (TEM) at the Beaujeu House. Following some ideological conflicts, the group of divides: Pol. Furrier will create the Experimental Theater of the Women while Robert and Jean-Pierre will be combined in Robert Claing and Anne-Marie Provencher to found the New experimental Theater (NTE) with Free space. Exploring all the theatrical kinds, the band of the NTE innovate. Robert Gravel will be interested particularly in the naturalism, without however refusing imposing roles such as that of Richard First in Vie and died of the lame king , of Jean-Pierre Ronfard.

Cofounder, on October 21st 1977, with Yvon Leduc of the concept of Match of improvisation, it thus opens the door with multiple alternatives gathered in what one calls the theatrical improvisation.
