It was the fifth wire of Elisabeth Andros and Sir Thomas Fludd, governmental officer high placed and treasurer of war for the army of Elisabeth I {{Re}}. It was high in the religion of his parents, i.e. the Anglicanisme. But finding that its formation was insufficient, he undertook, with an aim of improving his knowledge, a voyage which lasted six years, on the Continent. He thus traversed Spain, France, Italy and Germany. It is undoubtedly in Germany that it was in direct connection with the movement rosicrucian. Work

He is regarded as one of large humanistic of the Renaissance: its knowledge carried on the whole of the Social sciences, and it devoted a big part of its bulky writings to defend the réfome sciences.

As a doctor and an alchemist, it is interested in the ideas of Paracelse. As regards medicine, Fludd is recognized like a precursor. One owes him the description of the first Baromètre and of discovered on the blood circulation, formulated later with more exactitude by his fellow-member William Harvey. These books are true masterpieces, magnificiently decorated engravings which summarize the matter of them.

Fludd was before very spiritualistic, establishing a distinction between the physical part mortal and the immortal animic part of the man. For him, the heart is related to God, while the physical body is part of nature. The spirit of the life, the essential force of the life or vital force, éthérée and connected to the heart, constitutes at the same time the conscience and the animal spirit in us. This vital force is the cause of all the vital functions.

Fludd practiced the remote cure with the assistance of a system describes before by Paracelse and that Fludd names in its treaties the ointment of sympathy. This method was used by various doctors rosicrucians of the time, in particular Jan Baptist van Helmont and Kenelm Digby.

In his books, Robert Fludd also endeavors to present the harmony between the macrocosm (the world) and microcosm (the man). Continuing a universal knowledge, it is interested in the harmonic correspondences which exist between planets, the angels, the parts of the human body, the music.

Fludd and the Rose Cross

It defended the philosophy of the alchemists and the Rose Croix, and made use of their doctrines to describe the man, nature and the universe. It takes the defense of this hypothetical fraternity in the Tractatus Apolegeticus integritatem Societatis de Rosea Cruce defendens , where it describes the origin of the knowledge of the Rose Croix. It milked there their ideals, of their integrity and their wisdom.
