Robert Floyd

Robert W Floyd (born the June 8th 1936, dead the September 25th 2001) was eminent a enquiring in data processing American.

Born with New York, Floyd finished the college at the 14 years age. With the University of Chicago, it obtained a license Liberal arts in 1953 (at only 17 years) then one second license, of Physique, in 1958.

Become data processing specialist at the beginning of the Years 1960, it started to publish many noticed articles and became university lecturer with the Université Carnegie Mellon at the 27 years age. It obtained a post of professor with the Université Stanford later six years, without having Doctorat.

Floyd accepted the Prix Turing in 1978 “to have had a significant influence on methodologies of creation of sure and effective software, and to have contributed to the emergence of important fields of the scientific data processing: the theory of the syntactic Analysis, the Semantic of the computer programming languages, the checking of programs, the Synthesis of programs and the analyzes algorithms”.

Floyd was married and divorced twice, and have four children. During its spare time, it practiced the Backgammon and the Randonnée.
