Robert Darnton

Robert Darnton (born in May 10th 1939), is a American Historien , specialist in the European Lumières and history of the book under the Ancien Mode.

Graduate of Harvard in 1960 and of Oxford in 1960. President of the American Historical Association . Professor with the University of Princeton, where he teaches since 1968. It directs there since 2002 the “Center for the study of the book and the media”. It is also interested in the electronic publication and founded Gutenberg-e Program.

Thanks to the study of the funds of files of the Typographical Company of Neuchâtel, it could clarify the importance of the clandestine literature at the XVIII° century.
