Robert Bakewell
Robert Bakewell is a collector of Insecte S British, born in 1810 with Nottingham and dead the December 24th 1867.
This stockbreeder of Mouton S of Nottingham resides of many years in Australia and constitutes a very rich Collection of insects. He acquires the collection of the Lamellicorne S of marquis F. Thibault of the Caste Ferté-Sénectère (1808-1886) which included/understood the types of Pierre-François-Marie-Auguste Dejean (1780-1845) and Louis Jerome Reiche (1799-1890). In 1867, the British Museum acquires a first selection of 2.430 S which will be supplemented by other purchases. The remainder is dispersed and acquired by various collectors like Edward Wesley Janson (1822-1891), Charles Oberthür (1845-1924) or Edmond Jean-Baptiste Fleutiaux (1858-1951). Today, it is partly preserved at London, Paris and Leyde.
