Robert Atkinson

Robert d' Escourt Atkinson (April 11th 1898 - October 28th 1982 was a Astronome and British Physicien.

In the Years 1930, it was among the first to propose the idea according to which the relative abundance of the chemical elements in the Univers is related to thermonuclear processes with work in the star S. It accepted for this idea the Médaille Eddington of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1960.

In 1937, he became assistant editor of the royal Observatoire of Greenwich.

It also gave its name to the Astéroïde (1827) Atkinson.
