Robert Ashley

Robert Ashley is a American Compositeur of Modern music. He was born the March 28th 1930 with Ann Arbor, in the state of the Michigan.

As of its beginnings, it was directed towards interdisciplinary and multi-media creation. After obtaining a Psycho-acoustic Doctorate in at the University of Michigan, it integrates Manhattan School Music off.

Between 1957 and 1964, it composes of the parts of electronic music for the Space Theater. It directs the OUNCE Group which combines musical creation and theater at the time of rounds in the United States of 1964 to 1969.

From 1966 to 1976, Robert Ashley also turns to the United States and to Europe with the Sonic Arts Union, the collective of type-setters who it forms with David Behrman, Alvin Lucier and Gordon Mumma.

In 1980, following a ordering of famous Kitchen of New York, Robert Ashley assembles Perfect Lives Private Parts. The opera is by-product by the large chain of television British Chanel Four in August 1983 and programmed for the first time in April 1984. " Perfect Lives" will be then diffused in several countries of Europe (Austria, Germany, Spain) but only partially in the United States.
