the robbers of childhood is a documentary film carried out by Paul Arcand, journalist and radio presenter Québécois, in 2005.

Synopsis

Shock film with the style lampoonist, the documentary brush a portrait criticizes protection of youth in Quebec. It uses figures alarming like the number of descriptions to the Direction of the protection of youth, estimated number of babies victims of child murder, the number of children placed, etc to question the responsibility citizen and institutional vis-a-vis the children of need for protection. With extracts of interviews of victims, it refers to examples of serious and very mediatized situations of ill-treatment or sexual abuses, like those of Nathalie Simard or that of the “Torturer of Beaumont”, which also made the cuffs and which was the object of an investigation of the Commission of the rights of the person and rights of youth in this questioning. Twenty-five years after the advent of the Law on the protection of youth, the documentary critic the protective system of youth for its size, its administrative and unquestionable heavinesses of its practices.
