About 1977, it starts to develop its style while wearing leather clothing and sunglasses and by overlapping an Harley-Davidson on scene at the time of the concerts. This particular style had already been adopted before, in particular by Eric Bloom of Blue Öyster Cult, but it is indeed Halford which made it popular near the artists and of the fans of heavy metal.

Its stage business on an Harley-Davidson was the source of a memorable accident in 1991 with Toronto at the time of the round Painkiller Tour. At the time of this concert, its motor bike ran up against a walk which was hidden by clouds of carbonic Glace. Rob fell from the scene and fractured the nose. After having begun again conscience, it went up on scene and finished the concert.
Later in the emission Behind The Music , Rob will quote this episode like one of the elements having involved the separation of the group.

After 18 years of career with Judas Priest, Rob Halford announces that it leaves the group on July 4th, 1991. It forms then the group Fight with the beater of Judas Priest, Scott Travis. Fight will leave two albums: War off Words (1993) and has Small Deadly Space (1995) . In parallel it records in 1992 a piece, Light Comes Out off Black , for the film Buffy, tueuse of vampires on a music of Pantera. He collaborates then with the Guitariste John 5 in a project called 2wo and inspired of the industrial Musique. 2wo is produced by the Trent Reznor and leaves an album in 1997, Voyeurs , under his label Nothing Records.

In 2000, it returns to the heavy metal with its group Halford and leaves Resurrection , produced by Roy Z and accommodated very well by the critic and the public. It leaves also an album live, Live Insurrection (2001), and in 2002 Crucible , second album of the group appears. The same year, he plays a small role in the film Spun, in which he incarnates a salesman of homosexual Sex shop.

The reformation of Judas Priest was considered by many fans, especially since some critical had affirmed that Resurrection was closer to Judas Priest than the last album of the group Jugulator (1997). Halford itself had never rejetté this option, while saying for example in 2002: " Gut instinct such me that At does not summon it will happen" ( My instinct says to me that will arrive at a moment given ). It thus joined Judas Priest in July 2003 and the group leaves Angel off Remuneration in 2005. The world tour which follows will mark the 30 years birthday of the group.

Rob Halford was also the singer of Black Sabbath during three concerts. It replaced Ronnie James Dio for two shows in 1992. This last refused to open a concert for Ozzy Osbourne, its contract having expired after the Dehumanizer Tour. It had been moreover in conflict with Ozzy Osbourne for a few years. After having spoken with Dio, with which it maintained good relationships, Rob Halford replaced it.
