Roads
Radès (rear RTL رادس) is a city of the southern suburbs of Tunis located at 13 kilometers of the Capitale.
Attached administratively to the Governorship of Ben Arous, it constitutes a municipality of 45.356 inhabitants.
Geography
The city is constituted in the beginning on a Colline also comprising a Forêt of 350 Hectare S. Thereafter, it extends on the surrounding Plaine in direction from the Oued Miliane and the Mediterranean.Roads, in particular on the level of its old core, are characterized by its sinuous streets. It is around this core, genuine fabric Médina L occupying the hill, that all the city was structured. In his prolongation, one finds the districts of Bir Tarraz and Mongil, this last having been arranged by French to be used at the origin as residence the abroads. The other districts, more recent, extended thereafter: Roads Forest, Roads Beach, Méliane Roads, Maxula, Mohammed Ali, Taieb Mhiri, Noubou, etc
It is in Radès that the first Powerplant is country which meets the needs for the Agglomération tunisoise and it is in the vicinity immediate of the city and beyond the Miliane wadi that the greatest sports complex of Tunisia is, in particular including the Stade of November 7th equipped with 60.000 places, built at the time of the organization of the Mediterranean Jeux 2001.
Economy
Roads shelters the 1st port commercial of the country whose rise goes back to 1987 and who experienced a fulgurating development, collecting with its profit the activity of the wearing of Tunis then that of the port of Goulette. It specializes in the traffic of Conteneur S (700 000 EVP per annum) and the transroulage whereas in its immediate proximity an important industrialo-harbor zone develops.The city has to know deep changes with:
- extension of its port in phase of saturation,
- the construction of an road axis of 1,9 kilometer (including one Bridge stayed girder of 260 meters) above the driving channel to the wearing of Tunis and connecting the city to that of Goulette
- the installation of the southern banks of the Lake Tunis implying the repatriation of the harbor installations of the wearing of Tunis and especially the installation of a new city of a capacity of 130.000 inhabitants out of approximately 1000 hectares.
