Riyadh
Riyadh ( Ar-Riyadh , in Arab: rear RTL رياض) or Riyadh is the Capitale kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is located at the center of the Arabic peninsula on a broad plate, the Nejd. Riyadh lodges 4.200.000 inhabitants, it is the most populated city country. It extends on 1554 km ².
The Saoudi capital is in the “central corridor” of development, with Buraydah et al. Kharj, in the administrative Ar Riyadh area (the two other zones of population of the country are around Djeddah and Mecque on the Red Sea, and around Hufur and Dharan on the Persian Gulf).
The city is divided into 17 municipalities under the control of the central municipality and the authority of development of Riyadh, chaired by the governor of the province, Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz.
Although being located in an extremely arid area, the city receives some precipitations. Five stoppings keep the overflow. 96 wells were built, as well as a control of 467 km bringing of the water desalinized since the Persian Gulf.
History
At pre-Islamic times, the camping located on the site was called Hajar. It was with the confluence of several rivers (from now on Oued S) and subterranean water is easily accessible. The site was known for its dates and its orchards. The name Riyadh drift of the plural of rawdhah (rear RTL روضة Arab garden in ). It related to initially certain parts of the camping where the orchards prevailed, then had suddenly been used gradually for the whole of the site.At the end of the 18th century, Riyadh belonged to the first Saoudi State, whose capital was Diriyah. After the destruction of Diriyah by the Ottoman Empire in 1818, the capital was moved in Riyadh.
The city was conquered in 1902 by Abd Al-Aziz Ben Abd Al-Rahman Al Saoud. It ends up establishing a new kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932 whose Riyadh was the capital. The diplomatic representations of the other countries remained however with Djeddah until in 1982.
These last thirty years, the population of the city grew very quickly.

Between 1974 and 1992, the population of Riyadh grew of 8,2 % per annum on average.
Among important constructions of the city, one can note et al. centers Al Faisaliah Mamlaka or Kingdom Center (two higher structures of the country, with respectively 267 m and 302 m), the airport King Khalid, the stage Roi Fahd, palates Al Masmak, Sahah Al Hukom and Qasr-Al-Hukm.
