Rivers off America

Rivers off America is the name given by Disney to the artificial river located in the Lands of Frontierland of the parks American Disney (Disneyland and Magic Kingdom) as well as Tokyo Disneyland. This river takes the name of Rivers off the Far West with Disneyland Paris. It was replaced by the Rivers off Adventure with HongKong Disneyland because of the absence of section on the Far West and of its use as river for attraction Jungle Cruise.

American and Japanese parks

The river is an original attraction of Disneyland to the direction where it was as of the beginning the support of several attractions related to water. The river surrounds the island of Tom Sawyer Island in the three parks, accessible only by rafts. On these banks seat several buildings take mainly the landing stages of river attractions.

Disneyland

The river comprises many elements on its circumference of which a tribe of Indians, a house burned (in flames before the years 1990) and several animals audio-animatronics. It is possible to admire the masonry with colonnade of Haunted Mansion.

In 2003, the river was useful for the world preview of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of Black Pearl . A red carpet had been unrolled since the entry of the park, crossed Main Street the USA to the river bank. A giant screen of 27,5 m had been installed on the scene normally reserved for Fantasmic!. The June 24th 2006, the first of Pirate of the Caribbean: The secrecy of the cursed trunk took place also on the river bank but this time it is the attraction Pirates of the Caribbean renovated and reopened two days after which was the center of interest.

The river also knew two deaths. Both by drowning of visitors who had tried to cross the river without listening to the councils of the employees trying to carry help to them.

Magic Kingdom

As in Disneyland, the river comprises many elements on its circumference of which a tribe of Indians, a burned house and several animals audio-animatronics. It is possible to admire the neo-gothic masonry of Haunted Mansion.

Tokyo Disneyland

With Disneyland Paris

The zone at the entry of Frontierland named Thunder Mesa proposes since the Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing (landing stage of the inland waterway vessels of Thunder Mesa) of cruisings on board the one of the two paddle steamers, the Mark Twain or the Molly Brown. The two boats make the turn of the island of Big Thunder Mountain and Wilderness Island . Moreover the park has a zone inspired of the geysers of the National park of Yosemite including/understanding a skeleton of dinosaur and a splendid sight on Phantom Manor.

With the opening of the park, two other types of boats were also proposed but these two attractions were removed in 1994 because of the financial problems of the park.
