Rivedoux-Beach


Rivedoux-Beach is a common French, located on the Ile de Ré, in the department of the Charente-Maritime and the area Poitou-Charentes.

Geography

Small village and small port on the northern coast of the Ile de Ré.

  • First village while arriving on the Ile de Ré (at the exit of the bridge coming from the continent) .
  • Large bay and sand beach in north, vis-a-vis the coasts of the Vendée.
  • Great sand beach in south-east, vis-a-vis La Rochelle and with the Island of Aix.
  • Form S, small cliffs and trace of old fish locks with the point of Chauveau in the south.

History

  • In 1627, the duke of Buckingham, with the head of the English fleet, unloads with the point of Sablanceaux (where the bridge currently arrives).
  • Common most recent of the Ile de Ré; small borough of the commune of Holy-Marie-of-D, Rivedoux-Beach becomes common on March 11th 1928.
  • the northern bay of Rivedoux-Beach is at the origin of the Ostréiculture rétaise.
  • Certaines scenes of the film the longest Day was turned on the southern beach where some Blockhaus remained at the time.

Of azure to the gold lion armed and lampassé of mouths, crowns of gold to the antique.
