Rita Mitsouko

Rita Mitsouko (formed in 1980) is a Duo of Auteur S Compositeur S Interprète S Pop-rock'n'roll French, composed of Catherine Ringer and Frederic Chichin.

Biography

Catherine Ringer and Frederic Chichin falls in love during the year 1979. They make some concerts with the Danseuse Argentine Marcia Moretto, which will die of the continuations of a Cancer. The duet occurs on various scenes as the Factory Faded-Kao, single alternative place with Belleville, with some Reprise again S (David Bowie, The Velvet Underground…) and their first original compositions. Their look is like their music, original and shifted (Anorak S fluo or plastic bags “Felix Potin”) and draws the attention.

To note that the name of Rita Mitsouko is selected to point out their extremely varied musical references: Rita refers to the South American music (and with the actress worship Rita Hayworth), and Mitsouko is a Japanese first name of which the first part ( Mitsu ) can be interpreted like meaning " secret". In addition, Mitsouko is also the name of a perfume of Guerlain. With the departure simply called “Rita Mitsouko”, the group renamed “Rita Mitsouko” as of 1985, when they realized that many people thought that the name of the group was in fact that of the singer.

Finally some individual, at Virgin, followed arrive album Rita Mitsouko from which will be extracted the tube from the year 1985: Marcia Yawned (in homage to Marcia Moretto), piece New wave whose clip will be produced by Philippe Gautier, as well as the clip Andy . The duet has kept for 25 years, on disc as on scene, the image of a creative and energetic couple, of a great originality, which is not caught with serious and which explores all the musical currents, being interested in turn in the Punk, with the New wave, the Hip hop or the Jazz that they reinvent without complexes.

In August 2006 in music, Catherine Ringer announces on France Inter that the group recorded a song with Serj Tankian, singer of System off has Down.

In September 2006 in music, they take part in the creation of the spectacle the Weddings of the Child-King , creation of Alfredo Arias presented to Versailles within the framework of the festival Fêtes of night of Versailles . Catherine Ringer had already worked in solo with Alfredo Arias, playing and singing the role its musical comedy Concha Bonita in 2002 titrates.

Their last album, Variéty , coproduit per Plati Mark, left to Because Music on April 23rd, 2007 in music. A version in English language of the album, Variety left in July. They start thereafter a European round of the festivals which carries out them in Spain, in Germany, Suisse or Italy.

October 8th, 2007 in music left an mini-album made up of six titles and heading The Eye EP at Because Music.

In November 2007 in music, Rita Mitsouko are constrained to cancel part of their round because of the health condition of Frederic Chichin. Thus, the November 13rd, Catherine Ringer only goes up on the scene of the Olympia.

November 28th, 2007 in music in the morning, Frederic Chichin dies, at 53 years, of a fulgurating Cancer diagnosed two months before. The group was to occur the evening even in Olympia.

Anecdotes

  • In their album Variéty left in 2007 figure the song Final Beauty on which Serj Tankian sings, singer of System Of has Down. According to an interview delivered by the group on the plate of Taratata, this song was written to retranscribe sadness that their the mannequins inspire, from their skeletal physical aspect.
