Rising of Penruddock

The rising of Penruddock one of a series of Soulèvement S is coordinated having been planned by the Sealed Knot , with an aim of causing a Insurrection in March 1655 under the mode of the Protectorate of Oliver Cromwell.

The goal was to seize Salisbury, Newcastle, York and Winchester like causing smaller risings in the Nottinghamshire and the Cheshire. The garrison of the New Model Army in place in Winchester had been reinforced right before rising designed to be abandoned at once. No reinforcement was called in Cheshire, but of risings took place at other places well. Everywhere àc the exception of Salisbury, the royalist give up their plans without fighting, because of a lack of support.
