Ripont

Ripont is an old commune of the department of the Marne.

History

The village of Ripont counted 84 inhabitants in 1911. Ripont was particularly known for its annual pilgrimage with Saint Christophe. During the First World War, the village was destroyed. It was raised never again, victim of this war.

During the creation of the military camp of Suippes in 1950, the commune was officially removed, and its territory attached to the common neighbor of Rouvroy, which took then the name of Rouvroy-Ripont to perpetuate the memory of the disappeared village.

Geography

Ripont is in the North-East of the department of the Marne, between Rheims and Verdun, along the road which connected Cernay-in-Dormois to Sommepy via Tahure.
