Rio Nueces

The Rio Nueces is a Fleuve located at the Texas, the United States. Its course extends on approximately 507 km. The river takes its source in the plate of Edward. It sprinkles the area of the center and the south Texas, towards south-east where it is thrown in the Gulf of Mexico. It is about the most important river of Texas in the north of the Río Grande.

Nueces takes its source in the North-West of San Antonio on the plate of Edwards, in the Comté of Real to approximately 80 km in the north of Uvalde. It continues its course towards Barksdale and Crystal City, then approaching to 56 km the Río Grande. To the east of Carrizo Springs it leaves towards the east until in the Comté Live Oak where it leaves towards south-east forming the Lac Corpus Christi. It crosses then Corpus Christi where it is thrown in the Gulf of Mexico.

History

Well before the end of the Revolution texane, the Mexico established the southern border of the Tejas on Nueces. However, the République of Texas claimed Río Grande (250 km more in the south) like border with Mexico. This territorial argument will continue until after the annexation of Texas by the United States and was one of the causes of the américano-Mexican Guerre whereas America continued its ideal of the " Destinée expresses ".
